Description
A nostalgic and comforting Banana Bread topped with indulgent salted caramel sauce, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, and line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until combined. Stir in mashed bananas and yogurt.
- Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined and gently fold in walnuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- If the top browns too quickly, tent with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the Salted Caramel Sauce: Heat sugar over medium heat until melted and golden brown, stirring constantly.
- Add butter cubes and stir until blended, then slowly pour in cream while stirring.
- Let the caramel simmer for about a minute, stir in sea salt, and set aside to cool slightly.
- Generously drizzle warm salted caramel over the cooled banana bread before slicing.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
