Description

A nostalgic and comforting Banana Bread topped with indulgent salted caramel sauce, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until combined. Stir in mashed bananas and yogurt.
  5. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined and gently fold in walnuts if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. If the top browns too quickly, tent with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. For the Salted Caramel Sauce: Heat sugar over medium heat until melted and golden brown, stirring constantly.
  10. Add butter cubes and stir until blended, then slowly pour in cream while stirring.
  11. Let the caramel simmer for about a minute, stir in sea salt, and set aside to cool slightly.
  12. Generously drizzle warm salted caramel over the cooled banana bread before slicing.
  13. Serve warm or at room temperature.
