Description

A delightful dessert that layers rich chocolate cake, luscious cherries, and fluffy whipped cream into an eye-catching treat, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate cake cubes
  • 1 ½ cups cherries
  • ¾ cup cherry syrup
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup dark chocolate shavings
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Cut chocolate cake into bite-sized cubes and set aside.
  2. Prepare cherries and reserve syrup, washing and pitting fresh cherries or draining canned cherries.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  4. Layer chocolate cake cubes in a large serving bowl or individual glasses.
  5. Generously drizzle the reserved cherry syrup over the cake cubes.
  6. Spread a layer of cherries over the syrupy cake, followed by a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  7. Continue layering with cake cubes, cherry syrup, cherries, and whipped cream until the bowl is full, finishing with whipped cream.
  8. Top the final layer of whipped cream with dark chocolate shavings and chopped nuts.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours, or overnight for best results.

Notes

Use homemade chocolate cake for best taste; substitute cherry syrup for other fruit syrups if desired.
