Description

These festive cookies feature a melt-in-your-mouth, buttery dough topped with peppermint-infused chocolate from Hershey’s Kisses, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup nonpareil sprinkles
  • 32–36 candy cane-flavor Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, using a hand-held or stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar together on high speed until creamy (about 2 minutes). Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract and beat until combined (about 1 minute). Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl and beat again as needed.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix on low speed until fully combined (the dough will be very thick).
  4. Roll dough into balls (each about 20g) and roll generously in the sprinkles. If the sprinkles don’t stick, add 1 teaspoon of water to the dough to help them adhere.
  5. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to 1 day.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
  7. Place chilled dough balls on lined baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before pressing a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  9. Transfer cookies using a thin spatula and place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set the candy.
  10. Enjoy and serve!
