- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 16–20 ounces tater tots
- Pickles for garnish
- Chopped scallions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Heat a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.
- Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the meat is browned and no longer pink.
- Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Top the mixture with half of the shredded cheese.
- Arrange the tater tots over the cheese layer.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until tater tots are golden brown.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
- Garnish with pickles and chopped scallions before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken and use low-sugar ketchup. Frozen tater tots work perfectly for this recipe.
