- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
- Combine: Add the olive oil and pour in your frothy yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- Knead: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Rest Time: Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Shape the Dough: Roll the rested dough into a 9×13 inch rectangle.
- Cut: Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 12 equal strips.
- Brush and Top: Brush the strips with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder, and top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Cool and Serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving with marinara or your preferred dipping sauce.

These breadsticks are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
