Description

Irresistibly gooey and cheesy garlic breadsticks, perfect for family gatherings or cozy movie nights.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  3. Combine: Add the olive oil and pour in your frothy yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Rest Time: Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Shape the Dough: Roll the rested dough into a 9×13 inch rectangle.
  8. Cut: Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 12 equal strips.
  9. Brush and Top: Brush the strips with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder, and top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  10. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  11. Cool and Serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving with marinara or your preferred dipping sauce.

Notes

These breadsticks are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
