Description

A creamy, cheesy delight that’s a comforting favorite, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add softened cream cheese and stir until melted. Then add cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, stirring until smooth. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Fold the cheese sauce into the cooked macaroni until well-coated.
  6. For a crunchy topping, pour the mixture into a baking dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Once baked, let cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Consider adding smoked paprika or hot sauce for extra flavor. You can mix in cooked chicken or bacon for a protein boost.
