Description

A delightful treat that combines the nostalgia of classic cookies with the grandeur of a cake, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: Chocolate buttercream for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray a 9-inch pie dish or 9-inch round cake pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, using a handheld mixer or stand mixer, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until creamy and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and pure vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, beating on low speed until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared pan, creating a smooth surface.
  8. Bake for 22–26 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
  9. Let cool on a cooling rack. Press in more chocolate chips, if desired, while still warm.
  10. If using, decorate with chocolate buttercream for a stunning finish.

Notes

Store covered tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days. Freezing portions is recommended for longer storage.
