Description

Delightful biscuits that are warm and gooey, filled with cinnamon and raisins, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins, divided
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt.
  3. In a separate small bowl, combine buttermilk, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in 3/4 cup of raisins, reserving 1/4 cup for topping.
  6. Pour melted butter into an 8×8 inch baking dish and spread the biscuit dough over it.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved raisins on top.
  8. Score the dough into 9 squares.
  9. Bake for 28–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. While baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together confectioners’ sugar and milk.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the warm biscuits once out of the oven.
  12. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
