Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for the filling)
  • 1 egg (for the filling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the filling)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for the filling)
  • Optional: walnuts, chocolate chips, or a sprinkle of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two loaf pans with butter or line them with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup sugar until smooth. Add in 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1/4 cup flour, mixing until blended.
  3. Mash bananas until smooth. Stir in melted butter and both sugars until combined.
  4. Mix in 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and sour cream until fully combined.
  5. Gradually fold in flour, baking soda, and salt until the batter is thick yet pourable.
  6. Pour half of the banana batter into prepared loaf pans. Add dollops of cream cheese mixture and spread it gently. Pour remaining banana batter over the top.
  7. Bake for 50-55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pans for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
