Description

A gooey and warm grilled cheese sandwich that melds the creaminess of ripe avocado with perfectly melted cheese, perfect for both kids and adults.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of sourdough bread (or your choice)
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Mash the ripe avocado in a bowl until smooth, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, combine the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
  4. Butter one side of each bread slice and spread mayonnaise on the unbuttered side of two slices.
  5. Place the mayo-side-down slices into the skillet and spread the mashed avocado evenly over each slice.
  6. Sprinkle garlic and onion powder over the avocado.
  7. Top with the cheese blend and add fresh basil if desired.
  8. Close sandwiches with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  9. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  10. Let rest briefly before slicing and serving warm.

For a healthier twist, substitute with low-sugar bread or dairy-free cheese.
