A delightful creamy baked fish resting atop a fragrant potato gratin, perfect for special occasions or cozy family dinners.

- 4 white fish fillets, skin removed
- 800g potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, finely sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 300ml cream
- 150ml milk
- 100g grated cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Butter a baking dish generously.
- Layer the thinly sliced potatoes, onions, and minced garlic in the dish.
- Heat cream, milk, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper in a saucepan until warm.
- Pour the warm mixture over the potato layers and sprinkle half the grated cheese on top.
- Bake for approximately 30 minutes until potatoes are golden.
- While the gratin is baking, sear the fish fillets in a skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Place seared fish on top of the potatoes, pour remaining cream mixture over it, and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Dot with butter and return to the oven for another 20-25 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Pair with a simple arugula salad or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
