Description

A delightful creamy baked fish resting atop a fragrant potato gratin, perfect for special occasions or cozy family dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 white fish fillets, skin removed
  • 800g potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, finely sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 300ml cream
  • 150ml milk
  • 100g grated cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Butter a baking dish generously.
  3. Layer the thinly sliced potatoes, onions, and minced garlic in the dish.
  4. Heat cream, milk, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper in a saucepan until warm.
  5. Pour the warm mixture over the potato layers and sprinkle half the grated cheese on top.
  6. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until potatoes are golden.
  7. While the gratin is baking, sear the fish fillets in a skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Place seared fish on top of the potatoes, pour remaining cream mixture over it, and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  9. Dot with butter and return to the oven for another 20-25 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
  10. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Pair with a simple arugula salad or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
