- 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
- 1/2 cup Whole Milk (at 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 5 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (melted and cooled)
- 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoons Topping Butter (melted)
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for finishing)
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: Combine warmed milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5-8 minutes until foamy.
- Form Initial Dough: In a mixing bowl, add remaining sugar, melted butter, and sea salt. Mix for 30 seconds. Gradually add flour one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- First Rise: Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise for 60-90 minutes until doubled.
- Shape Rolls: Divide dough into 15 portions, roll into balls, and place in a greased pan. Cover loosely.
- Second Rise: Let rolls rise until they touch each other and have doubled in size.
- Bake And Finish: Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 22-25 minutes, rotating halfway. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
Notes
Store cooled rolls in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Freeze for up to 3 months.
