Description

A warm, gooey cinnamon bread that’s perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack, capturing the essence of southern hospitality.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package frozen bread dough
  • ¼ cup ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×5 inch loaf pan with baking spray.
  2. In a bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  3. Place thawed bread dough in a baking dish and make five deep slits in it.
  4. Brush the inside of the slits with melted butter and sprinkle in one third of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Turn the dough over, brush more melted butter, and add another third of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Flip the dough one last time, drizzle remaining butter on top, and sprinkle half of the remaining cinnamon sugar.
  7. Put the dough into the prepared loaf pan and top with the last of the cinnamon sugar.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 300°F and bake for 40 minutes, rotating halfway through.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  11. For icing, whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth and pour over warm bread.

Notes

Avoid overbaking to prevent dry bread. Ensure the dough rises properly for the best texture.
