- 1 cup whole milk

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
- In a deep dish, place the pieces of butter and allow it to melt in the oven while it preheats.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Gradually add the milk, vanilla, and almond extract to the dry mix, whisking until smooth.
- Carefully remove the heated pan from the oven and spread the cherries over the melted butter in an even layer.
- Pour the batter evenly over the cherries, ensuring they are well covered.
- Sprinkle the top with coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake for 55–60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
