Description

A creamy and aromatic dessert that marries the flavors of traditional eggnog with a tangy cranberry sauce, perfect for festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups eggnog
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cranberry sauce)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dark rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin by sprinkling it over 1/4 cup of cold water and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the eggnog and heavy cream, warming it over medium heat until steaming.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar and vanilla extract until dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in the bloomed gelatin, ensuring it’s fully dissolved.
  5. Pour the mixture into serving glasses and let it cool slightly before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
  6. Prepare the cranberry sauce by combining cranberries, orange juice, water, orange zest, and remaining sugar in a saucepan. Simmer for 10 minutes until syrupy.
  7. If using, stir in the dark rum and cool the sauce.
  8. Once panna cotta is set, spoon cranberry sauce over it and garnish if desired.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure gelatin is fresh for best results. Allow proper cooling before refrigeration.
