- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Carefully fold in the fresh blueberries.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk, gently stirring until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times until it comes together.
- Pat the dough into a rectangle about 1 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
- Place biscuits on the baking sheet and brush tops with melted butter.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half the flour with almond flour. Frozen blueberries can be used but may require slight adjustments in baking time.
