- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 12–14 chocolate truffles or small chunks of chocolate for the lava center
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop a portion of dough, flatten slightly, place a chocolate truffle in the center, and wrap the dough around it.
- Place cookies on prepared baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between each.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but center is soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Avoid overbaking for the perfect gooey center. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
