Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until blended.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. If needed, lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or oil.
  7. Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the preheated iron, swirling in peanut butter.
  8. Close the lid and cook until done, about 3 to 5 minutes, until crispy and set.
  9. Serve warm with additional peanut butter or chocolate chips as desired.

Notes

Don’t over-mix the batter to keep the waffles fluffy. These can be made ahead by prepping the dry mix the night before.
