Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until a dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Roll the dough into a tight log and slice it into 12 equal pieces, placing them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for icing.
