  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Boil the Pasta: In a large pot of salted water, bring to a vigorous boil, add pasta and cook until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned (6-8 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  3. Caramelize the Onions: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium, add 2 tablespoons of butter and sliced onions. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Add Flavors: Stir in minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Add remaining butter back to skillet with cooked beef and pour in reserved pasta water, mixing for a silky sauce.
  6. Toss the Pasta: Introduce drained pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Finish and Serve: Turn off the heat, garnish with parsley and optional Parmesan. Serve hot.
