Description

A delightful and tangy Lemon Cream Cheese Bread that blends the bright zest of lemons with rich cream cheese for a moist and flavorful loaf.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sugar, eggs, sour cream, canola oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture carefully.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan.
  8. Spoon half of the cream cheese mixture over the batter and swirl gently.
  9. Repeat with the remaining batter and cream cheese mixture.
  10. Bake for 65-70 minutes, covering with foil after 40-45 minutes if necessary.
  11. Allow to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream or as part of a brunch spread. Leftovers can be frozen for future enjoyment.
