Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of thick white or whole wheat bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk (or almond milk)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. Add turmeric, cumin, salt, pepper, onion, and cilantro.
- Dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated but not soaked. Repeat for all slices.
- Melt a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the soaked bread slices in the skillet until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional cilantro or a side of tangy green chutney.
Notes
Use bread that is slightly stale for the best texture. Adjust cooking time based on your stove’s heat levels.
