Description

Delicious pan-fried buns filled with tender cabbage, chewy noodles, and aromatic garlic, perfect for cozy family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 cup boiled noodles, chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add hot water while stirring until small clumps form.
  2. Add cold water gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix cabbage, noodles, carrots, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, and black pepper.
  5. Divide dough into balls and roll each into a disc about 4 inches in diameter.
  6. Place filling in the center of each disc and pleat the edges to seal.
  7. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook buns seam side down until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
  8. Add water around buns, cover, and steam for another 8-10 minutes.
  9. Serve hot with soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour and use low-sodium soy sauce.
