Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoons yeast
Instructions
- Combine warm water, honey, and yeast in a bowl. Let it rest for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- Add bread flour, olive oil, and salt. Stir until combined and add extra flour if sticky.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until elastic and slightly springy.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
- Shape the dough into a round ball and place it in a preheated cast iron skillet, letting it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F and score the top of the loaf with a serrated knife.
- Bake for 12-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Rub the bread with butter while warm, optionally sprinkling a little salt.
Notes
Store leftover skillet bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze for longer storage.
