Description

Ingredients

  • 6 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the tops off the bell peppers and remove seeds and membranes.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic until soft (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in rice, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Fill each bell pepper with the meat and rice mixture, packing tightly.
  7. Pour water into the baking dish to cover the base.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  9. Remove foil, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is golden.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days. They can also be frozen; just ensure they are completely cooled before wrapping.
