- 6 large bell peppers (any color)
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the tops off the bell peppers and remove seeds and membranes.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic until soft (about 5 minutes).
- Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned.
- Stir in rice, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Fill each bell pepper with the meat and rice mixture, packing tightly.
- Pour water into the baking dish to cover the base.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is golden.
- Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days. They can also be frozen; just ensure they are completely cooled before wrapping.
