Delight in these crispy turnovers filled with sweet blackberries and creamy cream cheese, perfect for family gatherings or a sweet treat any day.

- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 12 ounces fresh blackberries, divided
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice, divided
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons whole milk, room temperature
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine 8 ounces of blackberries, granulated sugar, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Heat until juices are released, about 2-3 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix remaining lemon juice and cornstarch, then add to the blackberry mixture. Cook until thickened, about 2 more minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and remaining blackberries. Let cool.
- In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese with 1/4 cup granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Roll out each puff pastry sheet into a 12-inch square, cutting into 4 squares for a total of 8 squares.
- Add 1 tablespoon of cream cheese mixture and 2 tablespoons of blackberry mixture in the center of each square.
- Create an egg wash by whisking together egg and water, brush over edges of squares.
- Fold pastry into a triangle, sealing edges with a fork. Brush tops with egg wash and cut three small slits on top for steam to escape.
- Bake for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before glazing with a mixture of confectioners’ sugar and whole milk.
- For air fryer, cook at 350°F (175°C) for 13-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Serve warm or store in an airtight container; freeze for up to 3 months and reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
