Description
A delightful pastry marrying flaky puff pastry with a creamy filling, topped with sweet cherry pie filling.

- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry sheets
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon water
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Lay the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each into 6 rectangles.
- Arrange the puff pastries on the lined baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch between each.
- Poke a few holes into the middle of each pastry, leaving a 1/2 inch perimeter.
- In a bowl, stir together cream cheese, sugar, and almond extract until combined.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry.
- Top with 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling.
- In a bowl, whisk together egg and water. Brush onto the edges of each pastry.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden and flaky.
- Dust with confectioners’ sugar and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute sugar with a natural alternative and use dairy-free cream cheese.
