- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 3/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 and 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt until fully blended. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, blend the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, whisking until completely combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones, mixing until blended. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Let the chilled dough sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Roll the dough into balls and place on baking sheets.

- Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
Notes
Chilling the dough is essential for achieving the ideal chewy texture. Consider adding nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
