- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg white
Instructions
- Proof the yeast by combining warm water with a pinch of sugar, then sprinkle the active dry yeast over top and let it foam.
- Warm the milk and mix it with the slightly cooled melted butter.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a clean surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it into an 8×20 inch rectangle. Brush it with egg white and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, pinching the seams to seal.
- Place the loaf in a greased pan, let it rise again, then bake until golden brown.
- Let it cool before slicing.
