- 1 loaf of French or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, dried oregano, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to create a garlic butter.
- Place the halved bread cut side up on a baking sheet.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each half of the bread.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top of each half.
- Follow with grated Parmesan cheese.
- If desired, add chopped parsley on top.
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, substitute low-fat cheese and whole wheat bread. Store leftovers in the freezer and reheat as needed.
