Description

Comforting Easy Homemade Sloppy Joes made with sautéed vegetables and ground beef, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 3.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 1 large green pepper, diced
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1.5 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 1820 sandwich rolls

Instructions

  1. In a heavy pot set over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  2. Drain any excess fat before adding the diced onion and green pepper and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, minced garlic, dry mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
  4. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes.
  5. Spoon the mixture generously onto toasted sandwich rolls and serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. You can also freeze individual portions for up to 3 months.
