- 3.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 1 large green pepper, diced
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 2 cups ketchup
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1.5 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Black pepper, to taste
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Red pepper flakes, to taste
- 18–20 sandwich rolls
Instructions
- In a heavy pot set over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Drain any excess fat before adding the diced onion and green pepper and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, minced garlic, dry mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Spoon the mixture generously onto toasted sandwich rolls and serve.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. You can also freeze individual portions for up to 3 months.
