Description
A nutritious and quick stir fry featuring lean ground beef, vibrant cabbage, and aromatic spices, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet or wok. Add the ground beef and cook until golden brown, breaking it into small pieces. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, heat another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir-Fry the Veggies: Add the sliced cabbage and red bell pepper, stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, allowing them to soften while retaining crunch.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch slurry.
- Coat and Combine: Pour the sauce over the veggies, combine with the cooked ground beef, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Finish and Serve: Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
For a leaner option, substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken. Add more veggies for extra crunch.
