Description

A nutritious and quick stir fry featuring lean ground beef, vibrant cabbage, and aromatic spices, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet or wok. Add the ground beef and cook until golden brown, breaking it into small pieces. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same skillet, heat another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir-Fry the Veggies: Add the sliced cabbage and red bell pepper, stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, allowing them to soften while retaining crunch.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch slurry.
  5. Coat and Combine: Pour the sauce over the veggies, combine with the cooked ground beef, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Finish and Serve: Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a leaner option, substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken. Add more veggies for extra crunch.
