Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for thicker cookies or add peppermint for a festive twist.
