- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Red food coloring
- Crushed candy canes, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the unsalted butter and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this into the creamed mixture until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two halves. Add peppermint extract and red food coloring to one half and mix until color is even.
- Roll each colored dough into ropes and twist them together to form a candy cane shape on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until set but not browned.
- Cool on a wire rack and sprinkle with crushed candy canes before serving.
Notes
For more mint flavor, increase the peppermint extract. Drizzle with melted white chocolate for added festivity.
