- 1 cup chopped mushrooms
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add chopped mushrooms and sauté until browned, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in fresh thyme, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into circles to fit into your muffin tin.
- Place a pastry circle into each muffin tin cup, then spoon in the mushroom mixture and top with shredded Gruyère cheese.
- Cover with another pastry circle and seal the edges.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, let the mushrooms caramelize properly and consider adding a splash of cream for richness.
