- 1 (16-oz.) loaf French bread, sliced into 1/2-inch-thick slices
- 8 large whole eggs
- 1 2/3 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 6 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 10 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3 cups raw pecan halves
- 6 Tbsp. corn syrup
- Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and shingle the slices of French bread in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Pour over bread slices, pressing down to soak for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup, then fold in pecans. Spoon mixture over the bread.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden and set. Serve warm with maple syrup.
Notes
Can be prepared the night before. Serve with seasonal fruits or ice cream for a special treat.
