Description

These soft-baked cookies combine peanut butter and rich chocolate for a nostalgic and indulgent treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 2/3 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus a few more for topping
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture and add milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugars for the peanut butter dough, then add egg, peanut butter, and vanilla. Mix in remaining flour, baking soda, and salt, along with extra chocolate chips.
  4. Chill both doughs separately in the refrigerator for at least three hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll two tablespoons of each dough into balls, press them together, and roll into one larger ball. Repeat for each cookie.
  7. Bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  8. Cool on a baking sheet for five minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For optimal flavor, chill the dough overnight for a richer taste.
