Description

A delightful dish combining hearty spaghetti with comforting garlic bread, filled with melted cheese and fresh herbs for an unforgettable meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized round crusty bread rolls (sourdough or similar)
  • 8 oz (225g) spaghetti
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp dried Italian herbs
  • Optional: extra parmesan and basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice off the tops of the bread rolls and hollow out the insides, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Set aside the tops and insides for later.
  3. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine olive oil, butter, and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add red pepper flakes and stir in the cooked spaghetti. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.
  6. Pour in the marinara sauce, mixing well to coat the spaghetti.
  7. Stir in the parmesan cheese and let melt before removing from heat.
  8. Brush the insides of the hollowed bread bowls with the melted garlic butter mixture.
  9. Evenly divide the spaghetti mixture among the bowls and top with mozzarella cheese.
  10. Place on a baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil and additional parmesan if desired. Serve immediately.
