Description

Deliciously crispy strawberry jam sandwiches that evoke sweet childhood memories and are perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a quick snack.


Ingredients

  • 6 slices white sandwich bread
  • 3 tbsp strawberry jam
  • 3 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Use a large round cutter to cut beautiful rounds from each slice of bread.
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of strawberry jam into the center of 3 bread rounds.
  3. Top each jam slice with another bread round to form sandwiches.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  5. Spread caster sugar on a flat plate.
  6. Heat butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture and place in the skillet, cooking for about 2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Coat sandwiches in caster sugar while warm.
  9. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
